The Columbus Shorin-Ryu Karate Dojo Kinder program aids in teaching self-discipline, self-control and expanding the attention span of its students. Our programs are designed to enhance the student’s self-confidence by teaching solid traditional techniques and requiring the student to reach proficiency in those techniques. The physical coordination, physical strengthening and increased flexibility the student acquires will increase their self-image creating more self-confidence. Parents that have children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) report greater successes with their children because the aforementioned skill sets and socialization skill are underdeveloped in ADHD children.
A Typical Kinder Class at the CSKD is 30 minutes that starts and ends with a bow to the Sensei. After warm-up exercises, the students practice motor skill techniques such as punching, blocking and kicking. The class also involves developing balance and graceful foot movements through stance and transition drills designed for fun and challenging engagement of the student. The student learns to accomplish task in sequential order in addition to learning respect and courtesy to their teachers, themselves and others.
